It’s hard to believe that another new year is upon us. As we say goodbye to the year that was, why not look to the year ahead by taking some time for you and your family. Instead of hibernating this winter, make a resolution to have some fun, and get some exercise while you’re at it, by booking into the Comfort Suites’ Regina accommodations and checking out some of these New Year activities and events.

1. Slide into the New Year at One of the Best Regina Hotels with Waterslides

Looking for a fun way to start the New Year? Book your family into the Comfort Suites and enjoy one of the only Regina hotels with pool and waterslide. Your kids will love the Comfort Suites’ indoor waterpark, which comes with a 40 ft. twisting waterslide and Kids Splash zone. Parents can relax in the hot tub or swim a few laps in the adjoining lap pool. Don’t forget to bring your other family member, as we are one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Regina.

2. Make it a Family Fun Night

The Comfort Suites Regina hotel family package features a night in one of our Double Queen Suites, as well as a $25 gift certificate to any Cineplex theatre in Regina along with a family snack pack back at our hotel, our complimentary hot breakfast buffet, access to our pool and waterslide, and a late checkout time of 1 p.m.

3. Have a Rwandan New Year

The Rwandese Community of Regina is hosting a New Year’s Party at the Carrefour des Plaines, 100-3850 Hillsdale St. Regina, Dec. 29 starting at 6 p.m. Children 5-10 will be admitted free and the event includes traditional dance, kids dance performances, songs, poems and a fashion show. The event continues with an open floor for all to participate in both traditional and western dances until 2:30 a.m.

4. Celebrate Noon Year’s Eve at the Science Centre

With all the New Year’s Eve parties taking place all over Regina, it’s nice to be able to find something for the kids to do, which won’t keep them up all night. The Saskatchewan Science Centre offers just the solution with its Noon Year’s Eve event, Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The event includes the Big Bang stage show at 11:45 and then a countdown to noon, along with activities, face painting, free snacks and more. You can also take in the IMAX Experience at the centre’s Kramer IMAX theatre.

5. Meet the Lieutenant Governor at the New Year’s Day Levee

A tradition that started in 1884 when the then Saskatchewan Lt-Gov. Edgar Dewdney greeted residents at Government House in Regina, the New Year’s Day Levee provides an opportunity to exchange New Year's greetings with the Lieutenant Governor and enjoy free refreshments and entertainment. The event starts at 1 p.m. and you can start your morning at our Regina hotel with breakfast included.

6. Count the Birds at Wascana

The annual Christmas Bird For Kids takes place Jan. 5 from 1-4 p.m. at Wascana Place. Your kids can watch for their favourite winged friends and also enjoy a special live furry friend presentation by Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation. Snacks and hot chocolate will be provided.
